Container sizing question

Recommended Posts

I'm getting 2 answers from 2 different sources. Obviously from RWS' website and the other from a rigger selling a rig (not my rigger).

Would a Vector3 V328 hold a 150 Sabre2 and a PDr-135? If not, what are the largest sizes the container would safely hold?

Well, first, PD doesn't make a 135 reserve; they make a 126 and a 143.

Sorry, brainfart, I was looking at the spec sheet while I was typing and crossed PDr 126 and Raven 135.

Here's the next question. A Spectre has a lower pack volume then a 9-cell ZP main, I've seen Spectre 150's fit nicely in containers made for a 135, but RWS lists a 135 Spectre as the largest it would fit. Is there something I'm missing?

my buddy randy who jumps a v3 328 has a pdr 126, and a stilleto 135 in there (i'm the only one that packs for him usually). a 150 would be tight as hell, and would look bad. a 150 spectre might fit, due to the lower pack volume, but i'd still be kind of weary.

and what does a big dude like you need a 126 for anyway? i'm assuming this is a question for someone else.

From RWS site:

V328M
Main:
Batwing 134, Falcon 150, Monarch 135, PD 150, Sabre 135, Silhouette 135, Spectre 135, Stiletto 135

Reserve:
Micro Raven 135, Mini Cricket 130, PD 126R

Take a look at attached PIA canopy chart. If you wanted to look at the reserve according to the chart the MR 135 is 308 cuin a PD126 (which many will say is about 10 sqft bigger then it is listed as but I dont want to get into a canopy measuring argument) is 296 cuin. Note though that a Tempo 150 is listed as 294 cuin. The mini cricket (Flight concepts whose products seem to pack up big) is not noted, go figure..... Probably based on that the tempo 150 would be the biggest or something in the sub 310-315 cuin range..

On the main

Stiletto is listed at 327cuin, the Falcon150 at 350cuin and the Spectre 135 at 354cuin. Given that limited set you are probably looking at a sub 365-360 cuin main. Again this is based on the chart.

Take alook and I hope it helps...

Thankyou for that chart! That was what I was looking for before I said FIDO and decided to post the question.

Oh, and Kelly was right, its not for me, it was a question that one of my students asked me, so I told her I'd find out (since I didn't know).B|

Well, AggieDave's question was for me B|
Thanks again!

However, I spoke with the owner of the container today and she directed me to her rigger, Mike. Mike told me that this Vector 3 (size V328) is sized for 330 - 365 cubic inches and a Spectre 150 is 370 cubic inches..

Apparently, the owner of the container jumped it with a Spectre 150 main and a Precision 135 (or is it a 136?) reserve for just over 100 jumps
I don't suppose a PD 126 reserve would fit in there with a Spectre 150 main...

Any comments?

Oh and something else ... according to that canopy chart a Monarch 135 is 379 cubic inches and a PD 150 is 382 cubic inches and BOTH are listed as canopies sized for this vector... BUT the Spectre 150 is not and it's only 370 cubic inches...

I wouldn't put too much faith in that chart. It has the Spectre 135 packing up considerably larger than the Stiletto 135, but I found the Spectre to pack smaller.
