Lotus Airlock Canopy Revision

Recommended Posts

The new line-set for the Lotus Intermediate Airlock canopy is now available for all Lotus Pilots.

The new trim includes the following differences:

1) Eagle Trim: reduced anhedral arc for reduced stall speed.
2) Altered "C" and "D" line lengths for higher airspeed and improved flare characteristics without significantly compromising glide ratio.
3) Spectra outboards to prevent shrinkage from offsetting the slider stops.

Although the existing line-sets are perfectly safe, the new trim makes the Lotus a better flying wing. If you are interested in putting the new lines on your canopy, contact Big Air Sportz today!

I got to fly one of the Lotus last SEP at the Byron boogie and I thought it was a wonderful canopy. It was one of the main reasons I decided to get something a little more high performance, the Samurai with the airlocks, because of the squirly winds we have up here in Snohomish.

I am really looking forward to its completion since this time of year we get a lot of low jumps due to the incessant grey skies. If I cant have fun in freefall I am looking forward to all the fun I am going to have under my new toy.:)

We aren't shipping demos out of the country. We tried it for a while and the complexity of Customs created some unbelievable headaches. I wish I could.

If, however, you choose to go out on a limb and buy one, there is a 30 day guarantee on the canopy.

I can do this because I know you're gonna love it.

Big Air's customer service is second to none. I've had relines done and back in less than a week, Brian has talked to me for long periods of time about the Samurai, etc etc. I was happy with my jedei, now I'm happier with my Sam. Keeps getting better! Thanks Brian!

Did you mean Vectran outboards?

Derek

On my Sam I was curious since it arrived last year with all spectra for suspension lines and vectran on only the break lines. I called Brian about it and asked. Basically with the known shrinkage of the other suspension lines compared to outboard vectran lines keeping all the suspension lines as spectra kept it in trim for longer.....

That is my understanding and I guess it is standard now..

It's just that you knew what you're talking about. You live with this stuff, so you know what you want to say. It's just us plebs that get stuck...

Now that you have explained it, your one-liner makes sense....

Brian, I'm a dealer for BirdMan in Australia and would be happy to help out getting a couple demo canopies through the complexities of our Customs people for you. I know the Lotus would be a real hit here in Oz - and I'll commit to take on any headaches caused by our Customs Dept brothers.

Blue Skies,

fergs;)

That is awesome! I have been looking for an opportunity to head "Down Under". If you think OZ would be receptive to a canoy flight camp, I could bring demos with me.

You can reach me directly through the Big Air Site.
