Is that pertaining to size of person or size of d-bag? 17.5 MLW, is the the main lift web length. MOS is the container sizing...for a Mirage. You'll want to determine what main lift web, stabilizer and leg pad sizing you should have before buying something online. The best way to do that is see a dealer and get measured or call Mirage directly (since you seem to be looking at a used Mirage). 386-740-9222. As to the container sizing, you'll also need to determine what size canopies you'll be jumping and what container size range you are looking for. By the way, an MOS is built for a PD 126 reserve and 135 main. MikeChutingStar.com
Synapse 0 #3 February 13, 2004 Hmmm, I can't help much, but I know that MLW stands for main lift web. To the best of my knowledge that is the section of the harness where the cutaway and reserve handles are attached. I would "assume" the 17.5 is the length of that webbing. Hope this helps... *Edit* heh... just read the post that got in before mine. -synThey who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin
sdgregory 0 #4 February 13, 2004 I just got fitted for a new Mirage and that measurement from that spot just below the throat to my hip was 18 inches. 1. That would be the MLW right? 2. If I were to purchase a 17.5 MLW would I be able to have it refitted for me?
PhreeZone 20 #5 February 13, 2004 A .5 difference is'nt that much. I'm fitting into a rig that I out grew a long time ago and it still fits me acceptible and I'm talking measurements of 1.5-2 inches on the MLW and 3 inches on the laterals. A half inch probally won't be noticed unless you are wearing the rig as much as Airspeed or Majik are.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

You may want to take a chest measurement too and ask if the last measurement on the Mirage is a 0, +1, -1, +2, etc. That number refers to the yoke. If you are really broad shouldered and the yoke is a -1, the rig will be too tight. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! cousindave 0 #8 February 16, 2004 Your best bet if you are going to buy a used container is to download an order form from the appropriate manufacturer and get measured as if you were going to buy a new one. that way you will buy the correct harness size. all the manufacturers web sites have sizing charts for canopies and containers.
