FIREFLYR 0 #26 September 15, 2005 Yo, Ray The one thing I would add is selecting the right Pilot Chute is key! at least it was for me. I Recently went to norway and was jumping my Mojo260 large mesh slider and vented 34"pc...no problem, comfy openings, good heading dot dot dot. Then I went to the swiss valley,"wow i thought, these cliffs are much lower, I should throw on my 38" pc" BAD IDEA. as I was taking 10-12 second delays. before I realized (thanks to some video ) that it wasn't crappy body position at pull time but A wildly occilating PC, I had a 180 w/ a half line twist (1st jump) and a full twist with a self clearing lineover (4thjump) After that the 34'went back on...problem solved! PC selection should be based primarily on your delay, not the height of the object. You can take a 2 off el cap if you want to, but you better not be slider up with a 32 and vice versa. Nice to hear about your trip to the EU was fun Jamie! Hopefully I'll see you in Moab. dmcoco84 5 #31 September 20, 2005 Packing Question Part 2 Thanks everyone with helping me on slider up packing options. Now that I have decided the method I will be using I have another quick question. While packing, do you quarter your slider before you lay it down or do you bring it up before you start to make all your folds. I would think bring it after would be better so you can see everything but it might disturb everything you neatened up if you do it after. Any input would be great. Thanks D
cornishe 0 #32 September 20, 2005 I leave my slider down by the risers until almost the end. After I've flaked my tail, then I walk down and grab the slider. I quarter it down at the bottom and then grab it by the center and drag it up, this keeps it quartered and it ends up exactly where it needs to be when the grommets hit the stops. Then I do my tape-gate and direct control. Clean up the flaked tail I slightly disturbed, and then finish up the packjob pulling the tail down to the bottom, and the rest of CR's recommendations of tailskin wraparound, yada yada, stow the lines, etc. .Abbie Mashaal Skydive Idaho Snake River Skydiving TandemBASE
TomAiello 26 #33 September 20, 2005 I bring the slider up after flaking the top and bottom skins, just before making the narrowing folds. Basically, I do it right when I would close the tailgate on a slider down pack job.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
