markbaur 0 #1 February 5, 2004 I have a ZP canopy that got road salt on it because of a winter jump. The canopy got a little wet at the time, but it's dry now. I'd like to get the salt out because I'm concerned about sharp crystalline edges degrading the fabric, but I'm also am concerned about repeated fresh-water rinses increasing the porosity, shrinking the tapes and fabric, and allowing the colors to bleed. Suggestions? Mark
Hooknswoop 19 #2 February 5, 2004 Here in Co they use Magnesium Chloride on the roads. Are you sure that the only chemical on the road was the salt? I think it is a matter of choosing the lesser of two evils, leaving crystalline salt in the canopy or fresh water rinse. I know PD recommends a fresh water rinse if the canopy has been submerged in salt water. Derek
riggerrob 643 #3 February 6, 2004 The cure for your canopy is the same as for a canopy dipped in sea water. Rinse the bejezuz out of your canopy. Continue rinsing until you can no longer taste salt in the rinse water. Avoid agitating the canopy while rinsing. Then hang it in the shade for a day to dry out.
