KFI . . .

Recommended Posts

Mr. Newcomb Weisenberger worked in KFI's engineering department for 33 years from 1947 until his retirement in 1980. Those who jumped there before the tower was hit by an airplane in 2004, and perhaps those who jump towers in general, may find his story interesting.

I'm glad they got rid of the "attack" dogs . . .

Very cool story nick. I stumbled apon this when i was looking for that tower collapse when the guys where hoisting up new sections or something. A couple of the guys where sitting on the hoisted sections....."nuts"...if you ask me ...Then it hit something near the top and the hole think collapsed killing all the guys. It was TV a while ago. I think it was in texas...not sure though These towers are fascinating how they construct them and how they stand.... Thanks for story..

Something very similar happened to the 2000' tower in Aliance NB. Workers were changing out one of the cross pieces and failed to properly support the area they were working on. They pulled the piece out and down the tower came with three men on it. A tragedy for the families of the men who perished and a sad day for jumpers as well

Hey Kevin....

That sounds like it was the one. I also stumbled apon a osha stories about tower accidents that was not very bright.... one of them involved a family working on a tower when there unrated winch gave out. If i find them i will post a link. Towers are pretty wild places....:S

Nice. I was told about the "magician rings'' before. It was cool to see a picture of them.
