gus 1 #1 January 26, 2004 I have a handful of pc's with 8 'spokes' running from the apex to the skirt, when I asked a master rigger why some people use less he said "because it's cheaper". Most pc's I see at the dz have 4 'spokes' but some, including the one that came with my container, have none. Is having none bad? I've just retired that pc after some odd delays. riggerrob 643 #2 January 26, 2004 Having no reinforcement tapes is not necessarily bad. Granted, you need some type of reinforcement near the handle and apex, but beyond that, most radial tapes are only relevant during high-speed deployments, higher speed than sport jumpers should be falling while deploying. On the other hand, reinforcing tapes on mesh reduce distortion, improving inflation, etc. Pilotchute fabric and mesh usually wear out out long before top skin reinforcement tapes tear. gus 1 #3 January 27, 2004 Thanks Rob. The pilot chute in question has tapes on the mesh, just not the radial tapes on the top. GusOutpatientsOnline.com
