ManBird 0 #1 October 4, 2004 I am in Prague, trying to figure out a Czech keyboard. Anywho... Did a 600ft S in Europe with Uncle Charlie two nights ago. Awesome object. I went to land near a light and a large bird flew out from a tree and I felt it hit my canopy. Very cool... the light made the wings glow. As soon as I landed, I backed into the shadows and began stashing my junk. I had about half the canopy in the bag when it started to shake and I noticed a wing sticking out! The bird was INSIDE my canopy! I ran over to UC and told him, "There´s an owl in my canopy!" We began working on extracting the bird and found that it was actually a hawk, and a large one at that. After quite a bit of fumbling, getting nipped at, and having holes poked in my canopy, the bird was free. Rather than fly off, he just sat on my canopy for awhile and stared at us, giving us a rather dirty look. He eventually spread his wings and flew away unharmed. My canopy got a few pinholes in the rib of the third cell from the left. It is packed up and ready to go (after thorough inspection). So, there, I truly am a Bird Man. The wingsuit jumps were nice, too. If I can catch a bird in my canopy from each object, I will began handing out Birdcatcher BASE cards. edit: Site naming. Come on, Steve, you know better. ~TA"¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
RayLosli 11 #2 October 4, 2004 Man I was wondering if you were still alive. Doing your first Cliff, wingsuit, and with a new virgin pined Rig that you just got a couple days before you left and never jumped. That is the coolest thing I have ever heard of getting snagged and caught inside a canopy. As good as getting the head of a climber on a wall, snagged on a wall strike. PS; Since you are not around at the DZ. Skydive / Joe Weber was forced to do a wingsuit jump with me yesterday and he was not looking to happy. Especially since I screwed the exit. pbla4024 0 #5 October 5, 2004 What are you doing in Prague? We do not have 600ft bridges there. If you want to jump, you could go to Pribram www.skyservice.cz. Ps.: Only difference bwetween CZ and EN keyboard is switched Z<->Y. Fido

Come on, Steve, you know better. ~TA I think there's been a misunderstanding. The S is not in Prague. I was in Prague when I posted, but the jump was two days earlier, elsewhere in Europe, quite a distance from the Czech Republic. If there hasn't been a misunderstanding, then I apologize for site naming."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

ManBird 0 #10 October 6, 2004 QuoteThank you ManHawk for a truelly memorable jump!! Long flights, J Next trip you'll become a minute man Thanks for showing me around! That was very cool watching/hearing you fly over. Strange visual and audio experience. What sort of delays did you en out getting? That first one looked pretty long. BTW, we passed by the hotel in Munich a couple times. We were in the right place, it was just very difficult to notice. Oktoberfest was just a bunch of drunken teenagers in stupid hats -- lame. We, again, slept for 3 hours (3 nights in a row!) before leaving for Prague in the morning."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
unclecharlie109 0 #11 October 7, 2004 Will have to watch the video back, think they were low 50s. To do the minute from MB (and have a canopy ride ;) you need to have a low fall rate i.e. <40mph but still with good GR. But there are some other places where an advanced flyer can further and longer
