Faber 0 #1 September 25, 2004 I have for lond wondered how people pull this off(it involves slider so im not in for it yet) All the A´s i have seen you´ll need to climb the rail to be abel to jump,so my Q is.. how do you do it??? even if you have fellow jumpers there. I can tell it must be hard to get out side the rail. Stay safe Stefan Faber
bps 0 #2 September 25, 2004 I've been on quite a few Antenna Wingsuit loads (although I'm not a BASE wingsuit pilot). Most tall antennas have quite a bit of room to move around and there is usually a decent amount of room to climb outside of the tower. However, your thinking is correct, it can be interesting at times and it certainly helps to have other jumpers assist you. It's not uncommon to have 30 to 40mph winds on tall antennas and this sometimes results in wingsuit pilots going severely head low if they let their leg wing catch wind right after the exit. I'll never forget watching Canuck M.R. go super head low on his first wingsuit antenna exit in 40mph winds. Of course, being the pro that he is, he just relaxed and flew the horizontal wind that was coming from behind until he had enough airspeed to transistion out. The grin on his face lasted for hours... When I jump a WS out of a plane, I do not zip the arms and legs up until right before exit. With them unzipped you have full range of motion.www.WingsuitPhotos.com
TomAiello 26 #5 September 25, 2004 I usually zip up before climbing out of the structure. The larger the A, in general, the larger the holes in the structure. So if you're doing a wingsuit A, climbing though usually isn't too bad. You just kind of wriggle and pop through. Now, _climbing_ the tower wearing the wingsuit would suck.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

blair700 0 #7 September 27, 2004 Hey man, In my SUPER limited experience (2 so far), getting out to exit wasn't too bad. I did have someone at the exit point both times though just in case I was unable to maneuver while zipped up. Luckily for me I just geared up on the landing, jumped in the elevator, and rode up. I bet a climb would be really tough, and potentially damage the suit. Later Blair
greeny 0 #8 October 6, 2004 Faber, I only have 3 solo antenna WS jumps but I usually climb with the rig in my stash bag (WS on rigg as it would be prior to kitting up for a plane jump). On reaching the closest platform to my exit I strap in to my kit as normal but leave arms free and legs if I still need to climb the ladder. At the last place I feel stable I zip my legs in. (this can be done on a vertical ladder). Once in exit position I zip my arms in. On my local 'A' this is done kneeling on a 4inch wide rail holding onto the vertical lightning conductor for support. All I need to do now is stand up and exit. Greeny
