bertusgeert 1 #1 July 19, 2004 Who is in charge of the rapelling? Any way to contact them? Is there a whole lot of that going on? How many lines down the bridge? --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
base428 1 #2 July 19, 2004 Passages to Adventure has handled the rappelling for years. They've already selected all their teams for this year. As for the number of ropes, there are too many of them as far as I'm concerned. Ropes stretch from the South end of the bridge to a point approximately 1/3 of the length of the bridge. If you have a 110 degree opening to the right and some line twists, you can hit the ropes.(c)2010 Vertical Visions. SpecialKaye 0 #3 July 19, 2004 Seems they come out further and further every year. Jason, why can't we restrict them a little more? Their lines are a real safety concern for both the rapellers and us, jumpers. When I jumped the first year (98), unless you had a full 180 (which I did that year), it wasn't a real concern. Since then, they keep putting out more and more lines, getting closer to the center. I've seen jumpers hit their lines and damage canopies. I've been fortunate and been right on my risers to get away from them and that was only 98. All my other jumps have been nice on-heading openings. base428 1 #4 July 19, 2004 The ropes have not come out any further since I've been involved in organizing and I make sure of this each year. I am aware of rope strikes in the past. I am also aware of one year, maybe 1999 or so, where they tried to come out further. The following year, the ropes went back to normal. If anyone has photos of the rope positions for anything other that 2003 (see attached), please let me know.(c)2010 Vertical Visions.
