Jimbo 0 #51 January 21, 2004 I've been thinking more and more about this lately, like you, I'm eagerly expecting new gear. Gear manufacturers and dealers, listen up! There's nothing worse than finding out at the last minute that the gear you've waited so patiently for isn't going to be on time. I think it would go a long way to keeping the customer happy if the customer was made aware of delays in a timely fashion. That means call the customer as soon as you know that the product won't be there on time, not at the last minute. Nobody likes bad news, bad news at the last minute is even worse. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
HeatherB 0 #52 January 22, 2004 QuoteI heard that Wings will do a rush for 150.00 which is cheap and more people take advantage of it but it pushes everyone elses order back. While I was at Sunrise (Aug '01-March '03) if rush orders were going to push back the delivery dates of other orders, they'd ask production workers to work late or come in on a Saturday to help meet the dates. They'd work OT if there were gobs of orders coming through too. As far as I know, Henri still does this. If you don't have ppl doing OT or anything, rush orders can definitely push back "regular orders" though, depending on the number of rushes. Rush orders in and of themselves are not a bad thing, the issue is how the manufacturer works them into the system. (in my opinion anyhow)
Cacophony 0 #53 January 22, 2004 It might be common practice for gear manufacturers to quote times and not deliver by those times, but that doesn't make it right. The Scotty method (Startrek - not a big fan, but it works!) should be used by quoting a longer time, and then delivering earlier, rather than later. That way the company looks better rather than worse. Its a simple business idea.....
diablopilot 2 #54 January 22, 2004 Riiiiggghhhhtttt... So you're saying a manufacturer, say Sunpath for example should voluntarily quote a longer time, say 30 weeks, and then deliver in 20, and seem like heros? Of course no one will decide on another manufacturers rig because the advertise a shorter production period even though they may not be telling the truth? Again, don't take it on faith that the manufactures word is the most accurate. Check with a dealer or two.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Where did I say it is okay for manufacturers to not deliver on time? Or maybe you were replying to the thread in general and not to my post?
