Karanga 0 #1 June 20, 2004 Hi, Im currenty a paraglider. My aim for the futere after all the right training equiptment is to skydive off tandem paragliders. Altitude probably around 1,000ft upwards. Would I be looking for a BASE or a Skydiving Rig for this? Just trying to workout a rough price for what I want to do to make sure I can afford it. Thanks in advance, Ian
Faber 0 #2 June 20, 2004 I would surgest skydive gear if jumps are above 2000ft and you aint going to smoke it low... no matter wath i think you should get some instruction no matter whatit aint just let go,fall pull and land.. just like it aint just to fly a paraglider, you´ll need to know what to do when.. but cool project Stay safe Stefan Faber
ImagethisPhoto 0 #3 June 22, 2004 I would recommend a BASE rig. A Tandem Paraglide jump is also risky for the Tandem Pilot. After you exit the pilot is under a very low wing loading on a wing thats made to take you up, not down like a parachute. Most Tandem pilots wont allow this stunt when the lift is present, or strong. The Tandem pilot risks getting stuck in the air or getting cloud suck! Basicaly you want a rig that is versatile for low openings (4 sled rides) or high altitude/ long delay slider up jumps. You never know, some tandem pilots (Yaro) are crazy enough to fly in lifty condition! Recently a Buddy was unable to jump because he had a Skydive rig and no BASE rig. The lift was very minimal that weekend so he couldnt get the altitude to make a jump. With a base rig you could make several jumps in a day! www.imagethisphoto.com Josh Morell
