The pair allegedly gained access to the roof by using a crowbar to pry open a door in a stairwell on the 51st floor.

Now that's low profile.

If you want BASE info then go to BLiNC - not here!!

Been there, done that, but frankly on this particular arrest I don't really need to know any more than what I read in the funny papers.

It's not like there's something subtle or mysterious about either the approach of the jumpers or newspaper article.

Maybe you should give the BASE board another try. Seems like the name is the only thing they got right.

They should definitely pay for repairs to the door.

Breaking and exiting are so un-cool!

On another note, why don't the casinos make BASE a betting sport?

Second to that.

By the way, let's stop being a bunch of hypocrites here. If you live and jump in the States you have at some point broken the law. Where you draw the line it is entirely up to you but don't go and judge other jumpers because they took it a step further than you are willing to do. Yes they jammed a door, big deal! My very first BASE jump was out a very illegal, very high profile cliff. Am I any better than those two? Hell no. So please start being real here. We are all willing to take chances, just with different degree.

I DISAGREE with you on that one. Trespassing is one thing, but DAMAGING property is another. If you damage property or steal while in the process of making a base jump, then you are a true scumbag.

"Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints." Heard that one before?????

Of course, the AC jumpers say they didn't damage the door, so the truth may never be known.

I disagree. And I agree with Jason.

The "I can do whatever I want" attitude is what made that very illegal, very high profile cliff illegal in the first place.

Look at it this way:

If I come to jump your house, and all you hear is the canopy opening and me runnning, what will you think?

Now, what if I break your window along the way?

Is that difference in action going to make a difference in how you view BASE jumpers tomorrow, next year, and 20 years from now? You bet it is.

We're still dealing with the repercussions of this attitude from 20+ years ago. Minding our conduct is the first step to changing public attitudes.

Jason,

I do see your point and I would not have done myself it but let's face it, it's just a lock. It crossed my mind several times to trespass on top of a building and jump from it and I cannot say I will never do it. Again the way I see it, is where you draw the line. If no life other than yours is in jeopardy then we are all on the same level just a different perception...

I think that once you start damaging property or breaking an entering, then there can be more charges brought to you if you get caught.

If I am faced with a lock, the last thing I would do is to break it.

MotherHucker once said be a stealthy motherfu#$er. I agree with that. No one knows you were there.

Peace :)
