why this forum

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry to be a thorn in someone's toe,
but, why is this forum here on dz.com?
Shouldn't it redirect to the BASE Board?
I support Mick's site, this forum seems redundant.
If there was solidarity in the BASE community,
we would not have to jockey around,
usually having to duplicate posts.
My 2 cents.

i think its the perfect spot to have a newbie freindly forum.I have got alot of answeres here, however if its a tecnical Q,you should always go to Mick`s site, there are more experienced that reads it who then can answer it.
I see it as this is a soft forum, were you can make all Q and get an answer,as a newbie you dont alway get that on Blinc(not Mick`s fault).
Blinc is the hardcore forum were there are far more details, and really experienced talking(which might are hard to understand as a newbie)

I see no harm in having this forum,i personal enjoy to read both forums and write in both.
just my .87£ all i had back after my trip to UK:ph34r::DB|(did i ever metion we had great fun?)

Stay safe

There is redundancy all over the web. Look up anything in Google and see how many websites you come up with.

My half cent.

Being a skydiver who is only mildly interested in BASE jumping, I find this forum useful because I can check it without having to go to another site (since I am often on dropzone.com anyway). I really only check it to see news or videos - stuff like that (and then I occasionally check the BASE Board when I have time). Any time I have wanted technical information though, I have asked it on the BASE Board. It seems to me that this forum is aimed more at people like me than the hardcore BASE jumpers, so I don't really see any problem with it being here. I also don't see any reason why anyone should feel they have to post on both sites - maybe if they only posted stuff on the BASE Board and didn't repeat it here then people would start turning to the BASE Board more??? (Or if there is something new posted on the BASE Board that skydivers might be interested in, perhaps instead of repeating it here someone could just post a quick note in this forum saying "Hey, check this out on the BASE Board" or something like that, so that people have to go there to read it.)

I think this thread sums up perfectly why this forum is here. :)

People were talking about BASE jumping on Dropzone.com long before this forum was created. The only difference is it was dispersed in all the other forums. This was an attempt to at least pull it into one location where those who are knowledgeable can respond and hopefully actually impact some decisions people were making.

Whether a BASE forum exists here or not will have very little effect on whether people talk about it here or not. For in-depth BASE discussions I still suggest people go to Blinc.

I have a skydiving site. Does that make all other skydiving sites on the web redundant? I hope others will continue to build some great skydiving sites and have as much fun doing so as I am. :)

Hello,
....pulling the thorn out.......
I was just thinking out loud, um,
or was it just thinking in cyberspace.
No insult or disrespect was intended.
I am sure that you will continue to
see me post here, as well as on BLiNC.

None perceived either. It was a valid question. :)
