scottjaco 0 #1 December 26, 2003 I just read the service bulletin. Have there actually been cases where the skyhook was sewn in backwards? Wouldn't a rigger catch this simply pulling the reserve handle and pulling the bag out by the bridle? (to see if it cleared) If you had a reserve pilot chute in tow as a result, it says it can be cleared by pulling the yellow relese tab on your riser. Are they kidding? how on earth are you going to find somthing so tiny in the event of a total malfunction with a reserve pilot chute in tow, it would be almost certain death! Kris 0 #2 December 26, 2003 This has already been covered here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=795631 RWS did the recall after finding one (and only one) instance. It only affected 40 rigs and was unlikely to have happened to any others. As far as how some SB's have been handled in skydiving by manufacturer's in the past, I think RWS did a damn fine job on this one.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Blahr 0 #4 December 27, 2003 They dont expect you to live with this situation. They expect you will have it checked (at their expense) and to have it repaired if its found to be faulty. They merely pointed out that the towed PC (caused by the skyhook being assembled backwards) would clear if the RSL release tab were pulled. That doesnt mean they expect you to keep it that way :-) I have a skyhook assembled during the time period in question. It was assembled correctly.
