This was my second year attending the Memorial weekend gathering. What a blast. After reading Narcimunds post, it's hard to come up with something else. He hit it right on the nose about the town embracing the fact there are BASE jumpers in the city.

2 of my friends and I were driving across the bridge as upon arrival to see another 3 of our friends, one standing on the outside of the rail and the other 2 waiting to jump. Nice timing.

We checked in to the hotel and grabbed some cheap fast food and off we went to the top. We all jumped one at a time to start out our weekend. And so it began. Unfortunately one of my other buddies decided to downwind his second landing and subsequently broke his leg. He was put back together with new titanium hardware.

Often there was an audience ranging from children to seniors. Many of the same questions were asked over and over. We all happily spread the cheer. I was often asked if I was scared. Naturally this question was asked during the climb over the rail. It’s funny how some one suddenly wants to talk about it when your standing on a board on the wrong side of a rail almost 500 hundred feet above the ground

There were several water landings and most of them were even planned. My friend Bolt did not plan his 2 water landings… hehehe :D.

There were a couple weather holds due to wind and rain, but for that only lasted a few hours and didn't hinder the jumping progress. The river tour business was awesome. They picked us up non-stop the whole weekend and met us out under the bridge at 8:00 Monday morning as well. (Most people got a late start Monday morning, uh… afternoon)

The nights were filled with Packing in the hotels, going to restaurants and watching video on the big screen, and general partying. Donk provided me with some good tips which were put to use the very next morning.

To go into much detail of the weekend would take many pages. It was a great time. It was a good place to learn and practice.

I have no Idea which dz.comers or blinc-a-zoids I met, but all in all it didn’t matter. We’ll all meet again some day at another exit point.

Till next time.....

Another great Memorial Day weekend.

*19-way simultaneous jump from the bridge that went flawless.
*Bruce K's 300th jump 8-way.
*Great people and food.

For anyone who is curious about XXXXX (he pulled at 4.8 secs, hit water with mostly open canopy at 5.8 secs), he had NO injuries other than some bruising. We visited him late Monday night and he was looking great. He is a very talented jumper who simply delayed too long.

Cya next year....
