Zennie 0 #2 May 14, 2003 This is a good question, one I've sort of been wondering myself since I'm trying my hand at videoing right now. One thing I think I can say with a fair amount of confidence is that you shouldn't show anybody's face unless they tell you it's OK. This goes hand-in-hand with the "no-naming" convention. Showing film of jumps at illegal objects is still sort of confusing to me. I see lots of dawn/day/dusk footage of A jumps where I personally am familiar with the view from above and can name it instantly. But it's hard to get A jump footage without getting at least a *little* of the surrounding area in view. Particularly the support buildings and driveways below. - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
motherhucker 0 #3 May 14, 2003 Quotewhat is the normal for video ettiqutte when videoing base jumps? just shoot the best video you can. The key is maintaining control of the footage you shoot and who views it. If you're going to sell it, I'd be very careful about burning sites by including recognizable objects etc. As a paranoid aside, I'd also turn the date/time function on your cameras off before filming any illegal BASE jumps, just in case it's ever seen by the man. How ever i can see the problem the places were they dont have the optimal as i think i have here.(of cours i dont go jump in the mithel of the day). About the video. As Motherhucker says get the best video you can get,but be clear whith the persons if its ok to make the video public,if it shows faces. rfarris 2 #5 May 17, 2003 Well Leroy, it depends on who you are talking to. A lot of these guys are "do as I say". Not "do as I do". My theory is, if you are stupid enough to jump an illegal object during the day, which is prime for video, then by all means, video it, only if it is YOUR object. Burn your own shit. If you are invited to another jumpers object, then you better respect that person's object. Screw your video. smile, your on candid camera. later, rod
andy2 0 #6 May 17, 2003 I have a quick question. How is simply shooting video of a site burning it? If youre already jumping the site in the daytime, for whatever reason, then why not slap on a camera or two? Is it the process, the set up, etc that makes it more likely to get caught when shooting video? Or is it afterwards, when you stupidly start distributing it online? I would think care to see who actually gets to see the video would be the best etiquette, but maybe I'm missing something? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... Faber 0 #7 May 17, 2003 i dont think that using cameras are a way to burn objets, unless they are things that are genneral observed(meaning places were your not aloed to be but normal publick knows it and regonize it if they see it)But jumping dayligth and get caugth will deafently burn objects..
