JayhawkJumper 0 #1 March 20, 2003 Ok, I'm not a BASE jumper, and I'm curious about this body armour thing. Why do you wear it on BASE jumps? Do you mean like bullet proof vests type of body armour or are you talking about just padding?
hookitt 1 #2 March 20, 2003 Quote Do you mean like bullet proof vests No. I'd say it's not very often we jump into battle zones =8^) It's padding. Common armor include regular skate board elbow and knee pads and a Protec. My set up includes paragliding boots, A bone head helmut, Fox BMX knee/shin guards, and a Dianese jacket designed to wear under a motorcycle jacket. The jacket includes elbow, forearm, and shoulder protection. The chest is slightly padded. and it has a kidney belt to hold the gut in so I don't have to. Best of of all it has really good spine protection. If the jump is pretty hairy, protec elbow pads over the elbows of the Dainese armor become part of the equation. Why you ask After a BASE outing, it sure feels strange to put on the skydiving equipment with out any pads on. -My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry...
