Faber 0 #1 February 10, 2003 i saw a post that talked about going 4-4,5sek from 600ft whith fine mesh. This leeds me to a Q about how long time/high the different settings take to in flate a canopi. I have only one slider up jump, whith larger mesh, whish also were my first stowed.I cant use the fackt i got my self, while i made it safe or not(you know this first times### rigth..he he),i went aprox 4 sek from 900ft I know thre are warriations of type of canopi vtec or not and which pc.So lets say a vtec on a slider off, fine mesh slider up and larged mesh slider up.The pc would be the correct zp a/v or not for the jump. Whats the avereged opening length on thouse? Stay safe Stefan Faber
TomAiello 26 #2 February 10, 2003 Read Dwain's comments, as transcribed by D-Dog, in this thread. Both time and distance required for inflation depend greatly on the delay taken. However, to take a stab at your question.QuoteSo lets say a vtec on a slider off, fine mesh slider up and larged mesh slider up.Given appropriate delays for the gear configuration, distance from PC throw to canopy inflation might be approximatelySlider off: 150 feetLarge Hole Mesh Slider Up: 250 feetSmall Hole Mesh Slider Up: I have no idea--I never use Small Hole Mesh SlidersReal numbers may vary widely. If you use a camera, and appropriate test jumps, you ought to be able to just get lower and lower until you find your personal limit.4.5 seconds from 600 feet is pushing it--I hope you've got a friendly landing area. 4.5 seconds from 900 feet is a good delay.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

NeilQ 0 #4 February 10, 2003 The landing area is on the whole very friendly and 4's can be taken easily. I have done a couple of 4.5's and it made for an exciting evening, downwinder etc. I have regularly seen 4.5's done by other jumpers there. It is 620 ft lasered and nicely overhung. Not sure about length of time/altitude taken for small mesh opening but it takes a bit too long at that height for my liking. IMHO the small mesh is great on longer/terminal delays with V-tec Fox's (though I am no expert) Stay safe Neil
