skreamer 1 #1 December 28, 2002 Apart from a light center cell, is there anything else that should be considered when choosing canopy colours? I'll probably go with a stock canopy, but was just wondering. Thanks Will

ernokaikkonen 0 #3 December 28, 2002 If you feel like analyzing your deployments from video, having the top and bottom skins in different colours might be a good idea. And of course, stay away from Pink and Purple Shit.

Sonic 0 #5 December 28, 2002 I put different colour stabilisers on my Hornet to help packing. Dunno if it'll help on BASE canopies.----------------------------------- It's like something out of that twilighty show about that zone
TomAiello 26 #6 December 29, 2002 The center rib should definitely be an off color. It is critical to be able to identify the center of the nose when packing. Also, I'd recommend stealthy colors if you jump somewhere that law enforcement can be an issue. Colors will need to vary, depending on your jumping environment, of course.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Predominately black. My friend, who has a macabre sense of humor to begin with, even commented... did you have to pick colors that are so depressing? - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
AntiPinkChrissy 0 #8 December 31, 2002 Though I am no expert. I have heard they should not be a dark color because if you do any night jumps, your canopy really tends to blend in with the sky. You might want something bright so you can at least see what is above your head. Of course this would make you more obvious to the local law enforcement officers... ~La La Gang Member #2~

TomAiello 26 #10 December 31, 2002 QuoteI have heard they should not be a dark color because if you do any night jumps, your canopy really tends to blend in with the sky. Um, I think that's the idea. If you are doing night jumps, it's often because of the bust factor, in which case you want the canopy to blend in with the sky. I've never had difficulty seeing my canopy in flight (my first canopy was navy with black lines). Then again, I've never had a serious malfunction at night, so I've never tested this in a pressure situation. All in all, if you live in a BASE-unfriendly culture (like the U.S.) and plan on jumping at home, I'd recommend a stealthy (i.e. dark) canopy.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
