Recommended Posts

1. if you wear body armor what brand, model and kind do you wear? and why that model?

2. if you only use it on special jumps, for what kind of jumps? and also question number one.

3. if you don't like the body armor and want to share your opinion, you are welcome to post it.

Dainese Body Safety. I purchased it at a very good price here

I also own the Bohn bodyguard system, but I prefer the hard outer shells on the Dainese armor, as they offer superior protection against sharp trauma.

I wear it on any jump that doesn't involve serious sneaking. For example, it's often hard to get into a rooftop bar or restaurant with armor on.

If you have trouble managing the cost (a full set was under $200, but I notice that they have sold out of many sizes), try asking your Mom to bankroll it (that's how I got my Cypress). Mom's usually have money, and they are almost always up for buying you safety gear.

I pretty much wear it on everything. It is a bit hot, but it's not very restrictive at all. I'm not doing advanced aerials (where I imagine it might interfere a bit), but I've had no trouble with front flips or gainers, and it's never been a problem climbing, or wiggling onto an exit point.

I've attached a photo showing me wearing a full suit of armor (I'm in the long sleeves and long pants, with the blue and yellow rig). Unless you are looking for it, it's hard to notice that I even have it on.

Oh, and before you start in on me about the lack of helmet in the photo--yeah, I know.

I never used to as my mentor didn't. I then decided before a trip to Switzerland to get padded up (I wasn't overly fussed about a helmet! :$) I then saw an incident which made me rethink the whole body armour thing. I now jump the following:

Xeno Hardnox elbow/forearm pads (hard shell)
Xeno kneepads
RollerBlade shin pads
Pair of Berghaus hi ankle walking boots (very solid) Hooks of Doom removed
Knucklebone half shell lid for bridge jumps
Diamond Back full face mountain bike lid for all other jumps

I like the idea of a Dainese armour suit but felt that individual pieces of armour were easier to store?

Be safe

Yes, I wear protection on 100% (or nearly, see after) of my jumps!!!!
I wear:
1) Dainese full upper jacket (mesh cloth with hard pads on shoulder, forearm, elbow)
2) Dainese large integrated knee/shin hard pads
3) full face FD helmet (with lens removed for more freedom and also for more breathability (you know, climbing up antennas make me pant...)): I think FD full face helmet has an incredibly good visibility, it does NOT interfere at all with your visual
4) (Mid-ankle) Salomon trekking boots
I wear the above any time I can, that is, nearly 100% of my jumps. It means, I wear the above when I jump B, A, S, E, O. Any object. I jumped without helmet and without Dainese jacket (but with elbow pads instead...) when I jumped my 1st B, but that is another story...

I went to a local motorcycle dealer, whit my BASE gear.I tryed a bag-sheld?It had too hard a cover and were unplessant to wear while having the rig on.Also it had a high edge, which i could bump the bag of my head on while having a hard opening(that were the expensive one/200$).Then i tryed another one, made of carbon-kevler(making it flexible)it fit well, even whit gear on(this one were the cheap one aprox 130$).but im not sure it will protect me enough(its cleared as gear to motorcycles).

Whats your protection made of?

should i keep looking or should the cheap one be just fine?
